Andy Walters – Wood turner & Owner of Black Isle Woodturning
Andy originally trained as a Mechanical & Electrical engineer and worked for a small engineering company in South Yorkshire before starting his own metal fabrication business in 1996. He won New Start up Business of the year in 1997 and later went on to work in education, teaching Craft, Design and Technology. Whilst working in Education, he developed an interest in working with wood and began producing, exhibiting and selling his own work. As his passion for woodturning grew, he used his teaching experience, engineering background and artistic flair to develop his skills and knowledge and made the decision in 2010 to pursue a career as a semi-professional wood turner and tutor. Now in 2014, Andy has recently taken over the running of Ullapool Woodturning Centre and established Black Isle Woodturning on the Black Isle, Ross-shire, Scotland.
